I am a psychodynamic, psychoanalytic psychotherapist. I work by letting you speak about whatever is on your mind, listening carefully in order to help you make connections about what has happened in the past that may be informing your current life. Past is often prologue. Although your depressive and anxious symptoms may feel like something to get rid of as fast as possible, we can use these as indicators of something that is running deeper that needs to be addressed and that your mind and body are telling you that you’re ready to look at the underlying causes. You have the answers within you, I can help you with the questions.
I work with people suffering from anxiety and/or depression who wish to deeply explore what is behind the symptoms they are experiencing. I work best with people who need a space to be heard and want to be empowered in their treatment. If you are noticing patterns and themes in your life and are unsure about why you are unable to do things differently despite wanting to change, exploring your foundational experiences can help get to the root of the matter. Sometimes coping skills and tools are not enough, and I am here to help. I am LGBTQ+ affirmative, sex positive, and work through a social justice lens.
In addition to anxiety and depression, I also treat individuals who suffer from eating disorders and are able to receive treatment at an outpatient level of care.
Body image issues include weight but may also cover topics such as cosmetic surgery and body modification.
